Farnborough International Airshow 2008

THE last flying display of the Farnborough International Airshow 2008 took place yesterday, with The Red Arrows closing the show as fits the tradition.

I took over 200 pictures and now have to triage them for post-processing. There will be disappointments of missed shots and having used the wrong settings on the camera. But, looking on the bright side, I managed more “keeps” than during the last airshow.

Anyway, until Farnborough Airshow 2010, enjoy the pictures (more will be added as I get done with them) and some interesting facts about the event.

• Farnborough International Airshow is the world’s largest temporary exhibition. The “build up” period takes 4 months prior to the start of the show.
• 3,600 tonnes of temporary structures are transported to the show site
• 90,000 sq. metres of structures are erected on site, providing tailor -made floor space that would accommodate London’s Royal Albert Hall no fewer than 30 times!
• Some 6,000 contractors will be on site at peak time to create the exhibition halls, chalets, company facilities and public dining areas.
• Around 1,500 exhibiting companies from 35 countries attend the show
